It was brought up at our church one Sunday, I had a chance to ask for prayers instead of angry responses for you....it's an easy and natural response I think most humans can identify with....our fallen nature....sorry I really enjoy leaving trailing sentences, :)
Now we pray for you and your community. While I will agree I think you guys are completely lost, I also realize you are completely unaware that you are lost. I kind of see you more as the blind leading the blind...who dont even realize they're blind.
But love wins.
Would still enjoy a cup of joe with you sometime..you never respond to me though..what up with that?Jen Znoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6902056258087567564.post-87658149281232145642010-07-28T06:06:07.282-04:002010-07-28T06:06:07.282-04:00thanks Michael (and Connie)- much love to you guys...thanks Michael (and Connie)- much love to you guys. Obviously the people who...Hello from Maine, Ian!

Obviously the people who have responded in anger are anixous. They are anxious within their own souls and what your leadership has done is to give them reason to look at their own uncertainties. The reaction is to fight/flee.

Personally, I have found James Fowler's book, STAGES OF FAITH, was very helpful when I began taking my spiritual journey and to help others. The point of my departure was absolute biblical literalism, expressed in classical (not charismatic) pentecostalism. It was steeped in Wesleyan/Arminian theology with a heavy dose of sanctification
(holiness of heart and life) as an emphasis.

In those days, there were few guiding stars for me. James A. Forbes, Jr., Senior Minister Emeritus at Riverside Church in New York City was one. Forbes, who remains ordained as a pentecostal and American Baptist, dialogues regularly in inter-faith settings. My education (later) at Starr King School for the Ministry (Unitarian Universalist) counter-balanced my education as a classical, pentecostal minister.

What I am saying is that "the cross" is not a piece of wood, but a archetype of the suffering we often go through, as Jesus did, to walk in the path God has chosen for us.

May grace you in your hour of need.

Warm regards and deep respect,

Stephen York
Stonington, MaineStephen Yorkhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00532920685857618405noreply@blogger.com
